They reached out to us, and the team at Blue is privileged to support the 2008 Podcast Awards. I hope you will take time and visit the Blue Microphone site..
If your looking for a really awesome deal they have a great microphone package available through Costco which includes their ever popular snowball mic. The pricing on this package really cannot be beat anywhere else.
The 220 shows that have made the slate this year have been posted at PodcastAwards.com. The voting starts on Oct 23rd
Congrats to All that made the list,
Your Show is not a Podcast unless you can find a way to subscribe to it via an RSS feed. We had a number of Lifecasting shows that were submitted this year that simply had no way to subscribe to them.
We also had a number of podcasters that once again encouraged their audiences to nominate them in every category. Imagine being a Gaming show and have your audience nominate your in GLBT.
I will talk more about all the shows in the near future but these were a couple of the big takeaways
I have the approved slate in my hands and will be announcing the 220 shows that made the slate at 4pm Pacific on PodcastAwards.com
This years review was exceptionally daunting as a number of the reviewers were not able to complete the task and we had to solicit alternates to do the reviews at the last moment.
The review process is lengthy and can take as long as 3–5 hours per category. Having overviewed the slate, I am impressed with the diversity of shows that have made it.
There were some shows that disregard the rules and had their listeners submit there podcast in each of the 22 categories. We also had shows that received a fair number of nominations yet failed to have RSS feeds on their sites or a number of the other factors we look at in the review process which in a number of cases which caused a show not to make the slate where they would have if they would simply invest some time in their websites.
I will be providing a full analysis as I do every year at a later date. But for now make sure that you tune in tomorrow to see if your show made the final slate when we announce it at 4pm Pacific.
It has been a wild 15 days but nominations closed on time tonight. One Technologies pulled the databases immediately and then allowed us access to the data.
We have down-loaded all the categories and will be sending the databases out to the reviewers here in the next 2 days. A huge amount of work has to be done and I will get a closer analysis of the submissions and will release some preliminary data later tomorrow.
We will have a live stream to announce the nominated shows on October 19th. More details to follow on that shortly. For now stay tuned to PodcastAwards.com for updates
For the 4th year in a row I get a chance to look at the state of podcasting and in particular the state of podcasters websites. The usual results don’t surprise me anymore and I guess I am a little cynical at what I find.
Tonight I decided to pull a 10% sampling of the 1874 shows that have been nominated so far. What I found continues to make me want to take a shot of Tequila as it is quite sobering in what I am seeing once again.
My first reaction is do some of the podcasters even care about there audiences?
1st How many Podcaster know what the correct iTunes Image Size is? Well if you don’t you may want to find out.
2nd How many Podcasters know what www.feedvalidator.org is? If you don’t you better find out
3rd You would not believe how many podcasters do not have a link or graphic on their website to their RSS feed.
4th I am simply amazed at the number of sites that have no way to contact the show host.
5th I really do not understand why people use Blog Talk Radio the Audio is beyond terrible and getting to the rss feed is a maze of menus that would confuse any newbie.
6th Do you think using a 20 different proxy services is going to get you 20 extra nominations. Sorry but you wasted your time.
7th Having a Audio program on a website with only a Hyperlink does not constitute a podcast.
8th Of the 10% sampling only 51% actually had a download link on their podcast show notes entries and a large number required me to guess where the podcast could be found on their website!! (Wish I could take screen shots and share) Hey lets not even talk about the 1 sentence show notes. Google can really index a show well with that.
9th Of the 10% sampling only 31% of podcasters had some sort of media player on their site. Do they not realize that at least 50% of the audiences today want a player to listen to the show directly on their site. Preferably one that pops up and allows them to continue to surf the net.
10th I don’t know why I punish myself looking at some of these elements on the podcasters page.
Oh an finally we will be looking at 100% of the sites before this is all over, if you think your show has a shot at being nominated their may be a few nuggets up there in that list for you.
Ohh here is the 2007 Report
Todd…
Put together a little Video update on the 2008 People's Choice Podcast Awards
Nearly a 1000 Podcast have already been nominated for the 4th Annual People’s Choice Podcast Awards. Nominations are open until Sept 30th.
Some interesting trends are developing this year that we did not see before. The data sets are so different that I predict by the time nominations close we will have a interesting mix of shows.
Get your audiences involved now and nominate your podcast today. www.podcastawards.com
Ok folks the 4th Annual Podcast Awards is underway. Get over their and nominate your favorite shows. Let other listeners and podcasters know that nominations are now open.
I am pretty excited about this year, as I opened the sponsorships up to podcasters and bloggers. This will help us reach the monetary goals we have laid out for 2008 as we are still well short of our fund raising goals.
Nominate your Favorite Shows now www.podcastawards.com
The 2008 People’s Choice Podcast Awards kick off in a couple of hours. I wish all of the podcast luck. Big thank to One Technologies for making sure that all of the scripts and validation systems were in place.
Good Luck All!
I want to thank this first group of sponsors for stepping up to make the 2008 People’s Choice Podcast Awards a Success
A Special Thanks goes out to our Hosting Sponsor Godaddy.com, check out all the great domain and hosting services they are and while your their use the Promo Code Pod58 to help support the Podcast Awards

The 2008 People’s Choice Podcast Awards start in about a week. We have made some significant changes to the Sponsorship Levels. This is in response to a lot of feedback.
For the first time ever we will take sponsorships from podcasters and we have scaled back the number of corporate sponsors and the sponsors levels.
The committee has also been made aware of a concentrated effort by several shows and groups to try and manipulate who gets nominated and then concentrate voting. I feel very confident that our grading methodology of those shows nominated will reduce the effects of those trying to game the system.
I look forward to a great event.
The 2008 People’s Choice Podcast Awards Nominations get underway on September 15th. This years awards will be run very similar to last year with a big change to the awards ceremony.
The awards ceremony will be held online. We will be using a variety of technology but no longer will we be constrained by time. The awards ceremony that was streamed on Ustream.TV last year reached nearly 2500 people. This way we are guaranteed to reach a large number of listeners and also include all of the podcasters that win.
Participation in the awards ceremony will require participant to simply have a webcam. The 2007 received an amazing amount of listener participation and we look forward to recognizing those in the space that win awards.
Todd Cochrane Founder of the People’s Choice Podcast Awards!
Note: We do have sponsorship opportunities available for the 2008 event!
It is hard to believe it is time again. But I am starting planning for the 4th Annual People’s Choice Podcast Awards. We will be looking for Independent judges to help with the review process after the nominations.
I will also be looking for sponsors for the 2008 event. If you are interested in participating or being a sponsor drop me a line at podcast@podcastconnect.com
Honolulu Hawaii 8/15/2007 7:43 PM GMT Podcast Connect, Inc., manager of the People’s Choice Podcast Awards at PodcastAwards.com, announces the category winners in the Third Annual People’s Choice Podcast Awards.
Podcast Connect wants to congratulate the lower category winners listed below, and look forward to announcing the top two winners at the Podcast Awards Ceremony to be held at the Podcast and New Media Expo, on September 28th.
Todd Cochrane Founder of the awards says that over the course of the awards process that over 350,000 people initially nominated 4097 shows, of those 220 were selected by the independent review team through a formal review process. Those shows that made up the 2007 slate were voted on over a two week period.
During the two week voting period 1.3 million people voted for the slate of shows. This exceeds last year’s participation 4 times over which shows the audience for podcasting is growing and general awareness of the People’s Choice Podcast Awards is strong. This level of participation truly makes the People's Choice Podcast Awards the People's Choice no other podcasting award allows the audience to decide what shows are the very best.
Each winner will be presented a uniquely crafted award, along with additional prizes as provided by the event sponsors. The Podcast Awards would not be possible with out our sponsors; a special thank you goes out to Platinum Sponsor Wizzard Media, for supporting the event this year. It is anticipated a total of $5000.00 in cash and prizes will be awarded during the awards ceremony.

The 2007 People’s Choice Podcast Awards response has been nothing less than amazing. We destroyed every benchmark that was set in the previous two years.
Even though listeners could vote once every 24 hours over 1.3 million people voted at least one time. The average number of times a person voted was 3. The most votes that were submitted and later verified in one hour was 22,109.
The investment to move up to a better server served us very well. The MySQL database went from about 1k in size before we started to about 1.5 gig by the time we were finished.
Attempts at cheating were down this year but we did have a significant number of people that voted with more than one email address that had their votes nullified in our validation and cross check process.
I am going to have to pull last years data but I am nearly positive that we had a 4x increase in the number of people that actually voted. We will be reviewing the data now and putting it through the Audit process so we should have an announcement on Wednesday.
Last year we ran a small number of the shows that were nominated for a podcast award through a site review and validation program. This year we processed all shows that were nominated for a podcast award.
I have some initial statistics to reports that should not surprise those of you that followed this information last year. It is sad to see people are still not doing some of the key fundamental things a podcaster should do to insure uninterrupted delivery of his podcast.
The amount of garbage sites out their astounded me. There were at least three services that need to examine what they are doing in their core podcast hosting business. While I am going to be respectful and not slam them publicly, podcasters would do good to really examine where they are hosting their media.
1st 4097 shows were nominated that is up from 3281 shows nominated in 2006
2nd Of the 4097 shows that were nominated only 2911 had a visible RSS feed link on their Page or was auto detectable.
3rd Of the 4097 shows 3761 of them had an iTunes link on their page it was obvious that many podcasters think iTunes is the only way to consume a podcast.
4th Of the 4097 shows nominated only 2012 had a physical link to their podcast show media on their show postings or had a media player of some sort.
5th Of the 2911 sites that had a visible RSS feed, 82% (2387) had feed errors. The 2387 that had errors 61% (1456) of those feeds were completely invalid according to FeedValidator.org.
7th 81% (1933) of those sites that had RSS feed errors, where being hosted on a Wordpress blog.
6th Of the 2387 RSS feeds that had either RSS errors or were invalid 93% of the feeds were being served up by FeedBurner.
7th The biggest RSS feed this year was a whopping 1.1 megs. The podcasters listing had not updated in iTunes in over 1 year. The podcaster received 2 nominations, yet had produced a show each week for the past 16 months. When we e-mailed the podcaster he was astonished to find his listing had not updated in iTunes and had no clue that their was feed size limitations.
8th Their were approximately 230 feeds whose size was over 250K
9th Of the 4097 Shows nominated only 41% had a means to contact the host where it be through a voice mail hot-line or a email contact.
I still have more data to compile but I have been getting queries to post these results. I have a pile of data here and will pull some more data that we collected. I am going to do a double validation on the above numbers but I am real close.
Todd Cochrane
The nominees for the 2007 People's Choice Podcast Awards have been announced at www.podcastawards.com with voting to commence on July 28th.
Over 335,000 people placed 6 million plus nominations during the nomination period. A team of over 40 listeners reviewed and graded those nominations and from the feedback I received the work was quite significant. I am very impressed with the slate of shows, while no awards process is perfect we are confident those nominated have audience members who are highly engaged.
Audience engagement is a trait that makes podcasting different, and while the space is still maturing the audiences of these podcasts are definitely heavily involved with the programs.
Todd Cochrane
Founder People's Choice Podcast Awards
I have the final list of 220 Podcast that will be on the slate. I am now awaiting verification from the folks that do the auditing. I will be posting the complete list here and on the PodcastAwards.com site as soon as I get the thumbs up.
We had a lot of shows that did not make the cut some did not meet the minimum show requirement or had started podcasting after the cut off. I was fairly impressed this year as we only disqualified 7 sites for not having RSS feeds on their websites.
One thing that is still beyond shameful is that of everyone that was nominated nearly 70% had RSS feeds that either had errors or were completely invalid. I will have some more info on that later. PodcastaAwards.com
Well now the truly grueling work begins. I have a team of 40 volunteers that have to review the 6 million plus nominations that were submitted by 335,194 listeners.
The task is made easier through some tools we have but it is still a huge job each team of 2 will spend about 8–12 hours on each category to make sure that the candidate shows are all eligible.
I am estimating we will have a slate of shows in 7–10 days. Hopefully sooner but we will be ready for round 2 shortly.
Podcast Connect would like to personally thanking Bob Heil and Heil Sound for his support of the People’s Choice Podcast Awards 2 years in a Row. This will be the third year that we have given the Top two Winners Heil PR-40 Microphones.
I personally absolutely love the PR-40. Past Winners Adam Curry, Leo Laporte use the PR-40, it is a rich sounding dynamic microphone. The perfect microphone for every podcaster. We hope that you will support Heil Sound and pick up one their microphones today.
Todd Cochrane
Founder People’s Choice Podcast Awards
We have six days left before nominations close for the 2007 People’s Choice Podcast Awards to date this is how the 2007 event is shaping up.
We have received over 2.1 million nominations with over 110,000 people having nominated their favorite shows so far!
Make sure you send your audience members to nominate your show today, as 200 of the top shows in podcasting will be competing later this month for the 22 award categories.
Well it begins, we wish we had a couple more gold sponsors but I have always said it will be what it will be. This is where podcasting companies get a chance to pay back to the podcasting community.
I want to take a moment and give a big thank you to the folks over at Wizzard.TV for coming on board to be our Platinum Sponsors this year. Their participation is greatly appreciated.
Thus far we have raised $4000.00 in cash and have about $1600.00 in prizes and trophy sponsors.
These other fine sponsors have made it possible for us to do this again this year. This is a non profit event for us as all money and prizes go back to the podcasters
This event has grown and Podcaster query me all year on this event so we are glad to finally be under way.
The Third Annual Podcast Awards kick off on July 1st with the first 15 days dedicated to having your users nominate your podcast at http://www.podcastawards.com
We have changed things up considerably this year.
In January 2007 I recruited 36 people with 3 people assigned to each category to review nominations. Podcasters that are nominated will have their websites inspected and graded by the reviewer. Some of the things on the grading sheet that the reviewer will be looking for. Site Branding, RSS Feed Prominence, RSS Feed Validation, Visible Link to Media in Show Notes, Show Notes Quality, Consistency of Production, Content Quality, Ease of finding Podcast on Websiye. Combining the graded worksheet information with the number of nominations each show gets will determine the break out of the 10 shows in each category.
After the nomination review process and posting of the slate of shows to be voted on a two week voting period will commence.
Top Winners will be announced at the Podcast and New Media Expo Awards Ceremony.
Last year we gave away over $8000.00 in cash and prizes, sponsors and podcasters nominated received over 8 million site impressions in 2006-2007.
This year we will be running the same promotion we were last year where you put a link code on your website and every time someone clicks on the banner your site will be in the running for free advertising on the website three 120x120 banner spots will be awarded. To get a graphic for your site visit http://tinyurl.com/2a4dev
Todd..
Help drive traffic to the PodcastAwards.com website and you could become the recipent of banner impressions of over 8 Million. All you have to do is put a little piece of code on your website. See the PodcastAwards.com website for Details. Win 8 Million Impressions
Honolulu, Hawaii May 24, 2007 -- The Third Annual People's Choice Podcast Awards Platinum Sponsor was announced today by Podcast Connect, Inc., the podcast marketing firm that manages the awards. Wizzard Media, the world's largest podcast hosting network and part of Wizzard Software, has signed on as the Platinum Sponsor for this year's event.
The Peoples Choice Podcast Awards Nominations open on July 1st at PodcastAwards.com, followed by the voting process, and will culminate with an awards ceremony on September 28th in Ontario, California during the Podcast and New Media Expo (newmediaexpo.com). The awards will be presented by Platinum Sponsor Wizzard Media.
"I am very excited about this year's event," said Todd Cochrane, CEO of Podcast Connect, and founder of the Podcast Awards. "Last year, through award sponsorships, we were able to award podcasters almost $8,000 in cash and prizes, with additional website exposure through 2006-2007 of eight million plus hits."
Because Podcast listeners nominate their favorite shows directly at the Podcast Awards website, and with the entire community voting on the final slate of nominated shows, every podcaster and their respective shows have a chance of winning the "People's Choice" Podcast Award.
"We're honored to take part in these awards for the podcasting community," said Chris Spencer, CEO of Wizzard Media. "Podcasters are some of the hardest working people out there and many of the great shows are still under the radar. These awards are a welcome reward for all their hard work, while at the same time providing the podcasting audience the opportunity to vote for who they love the most."
Over 350,000 people voted on the nominated podcasts last year, and over 250 people attended the awards ceremony. In the last year, the number of Internet users who reported downloading podcasts increased 79% to 17 million, according to a report from the Pew Internet & American Life Project. Reflecting that growth, Awards will be given in over 20 categories. Additionally, the podcastawards.com website will feature new nomination procedures and additional sponsorship options.

Honolulu, Hawaii – July 31, 2006 - /PR Newswire/ -- Podcast Connect, Inc., a leading podcast marketing firm and manager of the People’s Choice Podcast Awards at PodcastAwards.com, today announces an update on the progress of the 2006 People’s Choice Podcast Awards.
Over the 15 day period from the 1st to the 15th of July, 3285 shows were nominated from a submission pool of 875,000 nominations. A team of volunteers reviewed, listened and graded over 500 podcast sites and shows in order to determine the final voting slate. Recognized were the top five shows in 22 categories for a total of 110 shows representing a very diverse range of subjects. New categories for this year included the Best Podcast Directory and Best Mobile Podcast. Voting commenced on the 28th of July and will continue through the 11th of August at http://www.podcastawards.com.
Podcast Connect congratulates all of the nominees and looks forward to announcing the winners on the 15th of August and presenting the Awards at the upcoming Podcast and Portable Media Expo in September.
Todd Cochrane, founder of the Awards, explains that the nomination review process was tedious, but laced with anticipation. The makeup of the slate of nominated shows has changed dramatically from last year which is to be expected due to the number of new shows making their debuts in the podcasting space over the past 12 months.
The 2006 People’s Choice Podcast Awards has been made possible by the generous support of fine sponsors, including StreetIQ.com, our platinum sponsor for a second year in a row. The sponsors have donated trophies and prizes to recognize the hard work and creativity of podcasters worldwide. Stephen Malaster, the host of Raising Your StreetIQ, will be on hand to co-present the Awards to the winners during the awards ceremony.

The 2006 People's Choice Podcast Awards is getting ramped up and we have already filled three of our Major five sponsorship slots. The podcastawards.com website activity is already starting to pick up as we get prepared to do a site refresh on May 15th with all the new sponsors listings and category updates. New this year is a specific sponsorship category for trophies. You can get the details at podcastawards.com and send your questions to podcast@podcastconnect.com
The Awards Ceremony will once again be held in Ontario California during the Podcast Expo.
I am quite happy as we have secured the Platinum Sponsor and Two Gold Sponsors, so we are in good shape with only 2 Gold Sponsorships remaining and virtually all the Silver spots which tend to fill up near the start of the contest we have added a new sponsorship category this year which will help us cover the added cost of the new trophy design. [PodcastAwards.com]
Well we are six months away from the start of the 2006 People's Choice Podcast Awards and I have sent all of last years sponsors an invitation to participate again this year as they are being given the option to jump on board first. I was happy to see this morning that PodKive.com is the first company to jump on board with a sponsorship for a second year in a row.
If your company would like to become one of the Sponsors for the 2006 People's Choice Podcast Awards details can be found at PodcastAwards.com
Now that we have the first year of the Podcast Awards behind us it is time to kick it up for 2006, I want to kick it up in a big way. In order to do that and make it like the Grammys we will need to raise a small fortune in cash. Here is what I am thinking.
500 Person Banquet Ticket Price Subsidized
Top Notch Keynote Speaker
Video Simulcast
Major Prize Packages
Of the top of my head I think this will run about $50,000 if I want to really kick this thing up we can fly the winners in, and will need to raise even more money. To pull this off I am going to need someone that can help secure some major sponsors. If you want to be involved in what could turn out to be the beginning of something really big and will draw major press coverage send me a e-mail podcast@podcastconnect.com this position will be commission based.
Their seems to be some confusion out their and we want to make sure that anyone that is looking for information on the People's Choice Podcast Awards at www.podcastawards.com has the full story.
Podcast Connect Inc. founder Todd Cochrane envisioned the People's Choice Podcast Awards and had the PodcastAwards.com website built, Podcast Connect put in place the procedures for the nominations, evaluation of nominees and voting. Podcast Connect staff were responsible for securing the sponsors and putting together the nearly $4000.00 in awards and prizes to the 20 category winners.
We partnered with the folks at the Portable Media and Podcast Expo to participate in a joint ceremony so that we could honor the People's Choice Podcast Awards Winners and hand out the 20 awards plus cash and prizes.
It should be noted that TNC Media had their own separate independent process in selecting their two podcast award winners. TNC Media honored their two podcast winners during the same joint ceremony. I have seen several press releases that give TNC media credit for the "People's Choice Podcast Awards" that was sponsored by Podcast Connect. So we wanted to clarify that although the awards ceremony was held jointly TNC Media and Podcast Connect had two independent awards process's
We would not have been able to honor our podcast winners the way we did without the help of TNC Media and are grateful for them allowing us the opportunity to work with them.
Podcast Connect Inc is the owner and administrator of the People's Choice Podcast Awards and we look forward to working with TNC Media for the 2006 event. We have invested literally thousands of dollars into podcastawards.com which is a one of a kind unique voting engine that took over 3 months to design test and implement.

We have been really busy getting ready for the Podcast Awards ceremony at Podcast Expo. Trophies are due to be finished next week, the grand prize awards have been ordered. The ceremony program is in it's final design phase, that will be going to the printer next week. We have some big banners to be order at Kinkos this Saturday and a couple of the guys from techpodcasts.com will be photographing the event.
We need someone to video tape the event, looking for a podcaster of video caster volunteer.
We are pretty excited about November as thier are several major initiatives that are underway. My partners and I formed a new company to manage the Podcaster News Network and that site after months of work is set to launch very soon and I am really excited about that. The list does not stop there, we are looking for a marketing manager and content manager to join the team at RawVoice.
The gang is working hard at over at TechPodcasts.com in getting ready to move forward with phase two of that site, and I have some things up my sleeve that I have been working on here at Podcast Connect. We continue to look for podcasters that want to be involved with a new initaitive.
I plan on having a bag of swag when I show up at the Podcast Expo so if you come talk to me I will be sure to have something for ya to take home. We are working very hard to make sure we have a live stream of the Podcast Awards Ceremony, should be a lot of fun for all! Their is nothing like boot strapping a business though lots of fun, but exhausting to say the least.
Congratulations to the 2005 People's Choice Podcast Awards Winners.

I have been watching the voting every day and I can tell you that a few sites are really coming on strong and what I expected to be a slam dunk in a couple of categories is shaping up to be a race to the finish line.
I want to congratulate Coverville for driving the most traffic to the site over the past 10 days. Incredible number of hits from his site. Their were over 20 other sites that were within 2000 hits each.
Good luck to all 6 days left! www.podcastawards.com
I am simply amazed that a show that I listen to from time to time would be so bold as to think their was a conspiracy to keep them from being on the candidate slate. I find the e-mail exchange I had to be very arogant which shows me how little respect some of the bigger sites have for podcasters out their building their fan base. We laid out the contest process very clearly, and only one person has disputed how we organized the event. I will say that we have learned some things, and will make some changes next year but for being a initial event we can't be expected to be perfect.
I will say this the slate of shows was put together largely from the nominations, some shows missed the cut because of some of the rules criteria. There were no ties luckily, and some shows that I consider to be pretty popular simply did not end up with very many nominations.
We did our best to advertise, and announce the contest in various forums and ran a significant number of paid ads on podcast specific websites. I feel we got the word did get out as the nomination, post nomination and now voting traffic is at the expected level, with the site seeing close to 500,000 unique hits in the past 4 days. This is on mark with what I expected, and the website bandwidth is holding it's own. The number of votes is staggering and the vote spread across most of categories is very narrow within 3-5%
Todd..
Well I am very happy and we are learning a lot about the process surrounding people voting, and the verification process. Probably make some changes next year but we are going to roll with what we have now. The site is seeing about 120,000 front page loads a day. The shows that have been nominated are really getting out the vote.
The script writers have been busy also but so far the voting engine is doing what it is supposed to do. I have even received some probing questions which the developer has found useful in defending the integrity of the voting. Regardless everything has been logged.
I cannot even count the number of hours Podcast Connect and, One Technologies has put in to make sure that we have a viable awards site for future years. [The People's Choice Podcast Awards]

The Podcast Awards site is open for Voting
The server was just about brought to it's upon turning on the slate. We did detect within 15 minutes a group trying to cheat but those tries were going straight to the trashcan. We tested quite heavily but I have the team watching the server and the log files to make sure that if a bug pops up we squash it right away. In the first hour we did have one issue that we fixed and thus far the voting is off to a good start.
Vote every day for your Favorite Podcast at www.podcastawards.com

The 2005 People's Choice Podcast Awards website is seeing amazing amount of traffic. Everyone has been playing nice thus far minus a couple of shows that had to be disqualified for cheating. We have some verifications out on other nominations that have not come back which has raised our eyebrows on a couple of others, more on that later.
So far the site has seen approx 800,000 unique hits, and a high number of nominations. Podcasters are mobilizing their listeners. We will be giving out the first of three awards for sites driving the most traffic to the site in a few days. Make sure you get over, and nominate your favorite show, polls close at the end of the month. [www.podcastawards.com]

Nominations are open for the www.podcastawards.com People's Choice Podcast Awards. A lot of work has been put forth to get the site ready and foot work by Chantal to try and secure sponsors. Their are still sponsor spots available. Contact podcastawards@gmail.com for info.
Please support all of the sponsors and visit the sites of those that have donated towards the contest success. This is a 100% non profit event for Podcast Connect Inc., and we will be using all raised funds for prizes and assisting in the awards ceremony at Podcast Expo in November.
Nominate all of your favorite shows as nominations are open for the next two weeks. [www.podcastawards.com]
As announced in February we have been busy preparing for The 2005 Peoples Choice Podcast Awards. We have been real busy behind the scenes here getting ready for the official launch of the podcastawards.com website. The launch of the site and the announcement of the categories will be happening within the next week.
This is going to be a great time for you to get your listeners ready to particpate in the contest. We are also very happy to be having the awards ceremony during Podcast Expo and look forward to seeing podcasters worldwide attend Podcast Expo and meet the forthcoming winners.
We will start the nomination process on June 15th with voting commencing in July.
I had contemplated trying to have the site be 100% podcaster supported to keep the site non-commercial. In order to raise the type of funds we need, to really make this a special event I have opted to sign advertisers.
We have a sponsorship goal amount and it is not small. The goal amount will allow us to award great prizes to the winners, and for the two top categories we are actually going to help the podcaster get to Podcast Expo in Nov by off-setting some of the travel expenses and pay for their entrance fee.
The Podcast Awards administratively is being handled by Podcast Connect but this will be a non-profit event.
The site is going to see an unbelievable amount of traffic during the contest and through next year. So sponsors will see a huge number of banner exposures and we feel we are giving exceptional value to those firms and organizations that become sponsors.
Sponsorship
We are now looking for sponsors and before we step outside the podcast community we will be seeking solicitations from within.
We have 5 levels of Sponsorship
Platinum (2) Spots Available
Gold (3) Spots Available
Silver (20) Spots Available
Prize Donation
Individual Donations
A Platinum Sponsor ($2000.00) will get a banner advertisement at the top of the site 468x60 and will have the choice of sponsoring one of the following two categories. The Peoples Choice Podcast of the Year or The Best Produced Podcast. You advertisement will remain on the site until the 2006 podcast awards. Your sponsorship donation will go towards paying for the prize and off setting travel expenses of the winner to Podcast Expo in November. Your companies name will be emblazed on one of the prizes and if your company is in attendance at Podcast Expo, we will take your picture with the winner and place that photo on the PodcastAwards.com website along with being included in any national press releases. In addition you will be given a page on the website to place commercial content which will be linked from our sponsor’s page to describe your company. Any interviews by the Podcast Awards staff will make ever attempt to mention our Platinum Sponors.
A Gold Sponsors ($1000.00) will be give banner ad space 120x240 on the left or right columns of the website and be recognized as a Gold Sponsor at the awards ceremony. You advertisement will remain on the site until the 2006 podcast awards. Your sponsorship donation will go into the general fund and be used to pay for awards in the remaining categories. You do have the option to be a specific category sponsor. You will be given 1/2 page on Gold Sponsors page to describe your product or service.
A Silver Sponsor ($500.00) will be allowed to place a mini banner ad on the left and right hand columns of the website 88x31. You advertisement will remain on the site until the 2006 podcast awards. Your sponsorship donation will go into the general fund and be used to pay for awards in the remaining categories. You will be given 1/4 page on Silver Sponsors page to describe your product or service.
Prize Donation companies wanting to donate prizes to be distributed as we see fit or to a specific category your prize will be listed in the specific category with a link on our site going to a page that describes your donated prize and links and information to your company. If your prize is an equal or higher value than a Silver Sponsor you will be allowed an 88x31 banner on the website.
